The Shiho Karano Kai International was founded in 1982 by Soke Riedner and though it was a outgrowth of the CBBA it as created to be an umbrella organization over the CBBA. The purpose of the SKKI is to provide a structure under which all promotions and activities may be supervised.

As the CBBA's purely martial arts activities grew over the years it found itself providing services to and sharing instruction with many who did not feel comfortable with the Christian name. To address this concern and because it was felt to be wrong to have people in some way representing Christ who did not believe in our understanding of Christianity, the SKKI was formed. The fact that so many quality martial artists are drawn to the association, not because of ifs Christian emphasis but regardless of it, speaks volumes of the level of martial arts found in the association.

Though the CBBA and SKKI act as separate organizations, they actually share most of their functions. Though the SKKI does not act as a Christian ministry, it is still based on Christian principles. It is these principles that account for the high standards and service oriented nature of the organization. As the SKKI is a Kai not a Ryu it contains practitioners from many styles and is able therefore to offer instruction and ranking in these diverse systems. The very fact that te SKKI is so diverse means that it can gather knowledge and meet the needs of people far beyond the capability of a ryu.

The SKKI has grown to such a level that it can provide for other organizations and has several affiliate groups. As with the CBBA, the SKKI is primarily for instructors and because of this our membership roll reflects only a small portion of the people under our sphere of influence, Our concern is not how big we get but how well we can serve the membership. This attitude acts as a catalyst for growth, the more you serve the more people are attracted to the organization, the more the organization grows the better it can serve.
